Questions for the film Camp X-ray


1.       Where is this film set? Write down what you know already, and later go online and find more information about this place.
2.       Who is Cole?
3.       Who is Ali?
4.       What is Suicide watch? Explain what is it, and how it is carried out.
5.       The Geneva- convention states how prisoners of war must be contained while in prison, treated and what their rights are. However, there is a way for the officers in Guantanamo Bay to avoid having to live up to the convention, how do they do this?
6.       Some of the prisoners at Guantanamo Bay has been there 2002, how many years has Ali been there when Cole arrive?
7.       What kind of life does the detainees have? Describe as detailed as possible.
8.       How are the detainees’ Humans Rights being violated? Name at least three examples.
9.       When Cole arrived to the camp, she is full of prejudice towards the detainees. Name some of the prejudice she mentions.
10.   How do you think it would be like to work in the camp? What kind of thoughts do you think you would have?
11.   The headquarter of United Nations, who wrote the Human Right Declaration, is located in New York.
USA and many other countries agree about the Human Rights, and fight for these rights in other countries.
Why do the world accept the way USA treat these detainees?
Do you think USA and other countries in UN would accept this kind of prison camp and the way the detainees are treated, if it was in FX Iraq, Pakistan? Why/why not?
Can it be justified in any way to take people from their homes, their families, moving them to an unknown place and keep them there for years and years?
Is it right for the USA to have these camps?
